How to Create a VOD for an Event Streamed on Producer

  • Updated

Creating a local MP4s of a broadcast only requires a few steps. If you are not comfortable performing these steps to create a local VOD (video on demand) for your broadcasted event, please contact Support, and we can create it for you.

Create a VOD Locally

Please note that wherever you see curly brackets {}, that means it is placeholder text. Your event's broadcast key will replace the text inside of the brackets.

  1. Complete your broadcast and close Producer.
  2. Navigate to your Producer recordings. This can be configured when you launch producer, but it defaults to: C:\Users\Public\Documents\PlayON! Sports\Producer\Events. If you've changed the default recording path to something else, you can find it by launching Producer and looking on the initial settings page.

  3. Inside this folder, you should see a folder for each of your produced broadcasts in the format of Event_{broadcastKey}. image.png

  4. Find the folder for your specific broadcast and double-click it to enter into that folder. If you don't know what your broadcast key is, simply look up your game on the NFHS Console and go to the Broadcasts tab. The Broadcast Key will exist on that page for you to reference.
  5. Inside the folder for your broadcast, you should see many files that end in .ts. Don't touch those. That is your broadcast broken into small chunks that we use when streaming. We'll be using those files to create the VOD. You're looking for a file in your folder that looks like this: ConvertToMP4_Event_{broadcastKey}.bat.

  6. Double-click the .bat file and it will find all of the .ts segments in your folder and combine them into a single MP4. This process can take a while depending on the length of your broadcast, so be patient.
  7. Once this process completes, you should see a single MP4 file titled {broadcastKey}.mp4 inside the folder for your broadcast. It may require you to scroll up to view it.
